Web services
Making
better use of information is also about using technology. Web-based data observatories
and local information systems can enable local partnerships to effectively
share local research and data. Knowing what's available online is also key.
Keeping abreast of the latest data releases from Neighbourhood Statistics and
other
sources can enable better targeting, monitoring,
priority setting and performance management at a neighbourhood level.
Together with the ODPM Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, we are helping support local practitioners to identify and analyse the evidence base at local neighbourhood level - the data4nr.net site developed as part of our 'Data Provision for Neighbourhood Renewal' project signposts and links to the key datasets available online. Scoping work for the Local Information Systems project developed a set of case studies exploring how five different areas have developed their own data observatories (the case studies have been released on Renewal.net).
In Oxfordshire we are helping the local partnership develop the OCSI Data Tools into a comprehensive data observatory of key information and analysis used by partners across the County. The project is seen as playing a key role in the visioning process for the county-wide partnership. Alongside presenting data and research online, we have also explored innovative Wiki technologies allowing users to build up the local expert knowledge base.
OCSI can help you develop ways to better present and share information with your partners by:
- Developing online data observatories and local information systems
- Giving online presentations of data, maps and charts
- Suggesting innovative ways to involve users in developing a local expert knowledge base
- Highlighting what data and research is available online
With extensive experience in web services, we can help you make effective use of the web to share knowledge - please contact us for further details.
