Project spotlight - Data Tools
OCSI developed the Data Tools to help local government and other public sector organisations:
- Identify: Where are your deprived areas and populations?
- Target: Where should you be putting your resources?
- Evaluate and monitor: What impact are your policies having on regeneration and deprivation?
- Strengthen: Quantitative evidence to support your funding proposals and bids
The Data Tools is a cost-effective package of easy-to-use software and datasets. They quickly give you the data and analysis you need.
What are the Data Tools?
It's good to know we can be more scientific, as opposed to anecdotal, in our knowledge of deprivation and other factors within the District....We should definitely use Data Tools to focus our future work, both as the Council and in partnership with others. Elected Member, Lewes District Council A wide range of data is available at local neighbourhood level from Neighbourhood Statistics and other sources. Welcome as these initiatives are, the data has little meaning without analysis and interpretation. Data Tools provide this analysis for your area, enabling your organisation to target resources, demonstrate effective spending, and strengthen regeneration bids.
The Data Tools provide:
- Expert analysis, including identification and derivation of important social inclusion indicators
- Expert commentary on the datasets and variables - giving you the information you need
- Your area described and mapped in detail
- Your area compared with regional and national information
- Annual data updates – the trends in your area over time
- Ready to use data visualised in table, chart and map format
- A single consistent source – data from different agencies combined into one package
- Information available for immediate use in Word, Excel, SPSS, MapInfo, ArcGIS / ArcView and other formats.
The Data Tools go much further than simply repackaging data, they provide your organisation with comprehensive, customised and essential information.
