Public organisations increasingly need to understand local-level economic trends and drivers. To address this need, OCSI in partnership with GeoWise have developed the Local Economic Monitor (www.local-economic-monitor.org) to:

monitor key economic indicators for all English local authorities, showing the impact of recent trends;

visualise time series data, including change over recent periods;

The Data for Neighbourhoods and Regeneration (Data4nr) tool - www.data4nr.net - has been updated and extended. Commissioned from OCSI by the Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG), Data4nr identifies and signposts the datasets available for targeting, monitoring, priority setting and performance management at a neighbourhood level.

The Local Area Agreements agenda critically requires local partners to effectively assess and monitor the impacts of partnership programmes across their areas. The Department for Communities and Local Government commissioned OCSI to examine indicators for target setting and performance assessment at neighbourhood level, in the context of the data needs emerging from the LAA process. OCSI have produced a comprehensive mapping of socio-economic data across the South-East for the six core equality groups - gender, age, ethnicity, disability, faith, and sexual orientation.  The Equalities and Diversity Data Tool provides baseline data on these groups, as well as comparisons against the whole population.

The OCSI modelled Index of Multiple Deprivation data at Output Area (OA) level is now available, covering all OAs across England.
The data was developed in work with the Norfolk Rural Community Council, and validated at national level by OCSI on a project commissioned by the national Commission for Rural Communities.

The Commission for Rural Communities (CRC) has published the OCSI report ‘Deprivation in rural areas: Quantitative analysis and socio-economic classification’ . The report is available from http://www.ruralcommunities.gov.uk/publications/deprivationquantitativefullreport.
