Modelling and scenario planning
Scenario planning and modelling is about going beyond published information, for example exploring future trends and their likely impact on local needs and services.
- The Planning4care tool developed by OCSI and partners Care Equation is supporting planning and commissioning of future services for old people's social care services in 14 local partnerships. Planning4care is helping local commissioners assess the impact of different future scenarios - such as shifts from residential to community care, changes in health levels, and the impact of preventative services - on levels of need, service requirements and likely costs.
- In work with Norfolk Rural Community Council and the national Commission for Rural Communities, we have modelled key deprivation datasets such as the Index of Multiple Deprivation to the most detailed Output Area geography - each of which contains just over 100 households. This more detailed data is helping rural agencies make the case for increased regeneration funding, and enabling mainstream services in urban and rural areas to target services to areas of greatest need.
